VNeed

2016/10

VNeed is a web-based application intends for family vegetable purchase inquiries. The web app was designed for 'gold ironhack' - a timed web programming contest.

The letter 'V' in the name 'VNeed' stands for the initial letter of the word ‘vegetable’ as well as a similar pronunciation of ‘We’. This pun appeal for both the need to acquire vegetable (Vegetable needs) and the factors that the user concern about to acquire vegetable (We need it to be…). By decomposing the important factors in making decision where to buy vegetables, the three factors, fresh (as no bad weathers piled up the stock in previous days), fast (as shortest distance from the user), and fair (as budget prices) are focused.

The web app was implemented based on the data from Chicago markets. The weather data was based on the weather underground archive. Google Maps API was used and styled to the design.

The web app UI design adopted a minimalism philosophy including a ajax search, because the purpose was trying not to bombard the users with too much information.
